I found these shoes to be a a full size smaller than the original Busenitz with the padded tongue, that i bought a year ago. That said, once i got the right fit i noticed that while the midshoe (right under the stripes) was no longer padded the ankle region was EXTRA padded and made for a fit that was just as snug while more breathable.
I usually buy Culvers or Varials and these are pretty similar: just as comfortable and good quality. I usually buy 8.5s but these were a little tight to start with although they have since loosened up a little. I might consider going half a size up.
This shoe runs small. I had to return it and order a new pair one size up. Now that I have the correct size, they are so comfortable and cute! I only buy shoes when my old pair is destroyed, and its been two years since I purchased new shoes. I'm so happy with these.
Shoe looks great new, suede does not last - looked ratty after 2 weeks. The shoelaces come undone very easily (even double knots). The inner sold is grippy/tacky meaning your socks bunch up trying to slide your feet in). Possibly the worst shoes I have purchased in the past 10 years
I've just done my first real skate session in these and I'm really pleased with how they performed. I'm in my 40's so I get a lot of grief from my Achilles and sore heels so this was the primary reason I chose this shoe given the huge adiprene insole. It's a bit early to say whether that will make a difference to post-skate aches and pains but certainly during the session I didn't feel anything when I bailed out. This is the first specialist skate shoe I've worn so compared to my gazelles they made a big difference. I do actually believe I skated better today because of the shoe!
I have had a few pairs of the original Busenitz shoes and I thought I'd holier the vulc versions a go. They are an excellent shoe with a flatter feel than the og model. I really like them and the black and gum colour way is always a strong look!
